Janette Evelyn Rec Blount, age 69, was born on January 5, 1956 in Taunton, Massachusetts to Emma (Broduer) and Henry Rec. She passed away into the arms of her loving Savior on January 25, 2025 in Marshall, Texas, after a brief battle with Leukemia. Janette was a 1974 graduate of Taunton High School. She moved to Texas in 1976, where she met her future husband, Kenneth. They were married in Nacogdoches on March 5, 1977. This year they would have celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary. From this union, they had two children, Melissa and Eric. She lived in West Columbia, Texas for most of her adult life. She worked for Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District as a paraprofessional for many years and then for the Brazoria County District Clerk's Office. After she and Kenneth retired, they moved to Marshall to get back to East Texas, where they started their lives together. She was a member of St. Timothy's Anglican Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Henry Rec, and her brothers, Richard (Inge) and Paul (Kathie) Rec. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her children Melissa Hammers (Blair) and Eric Blount; her grandchildren Elijah Hammers and Evelyn Blount; her brother, Roger (Carol) Rec; her brother-in-law, David Blount (Kathleen); 15 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews; her best friend, Patti Leopold (Nelson); and numerous friends and family members that she loved dearly. Janette was a talented musician, both a singer and guitarist, a fabulous cook, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She adored her two Shih-tzus, Teddy and Riley. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the beach, singing in church choirs and praise teams, and having long, back porch talks with her best friend, Patti. Janette loved her husband and children fiercely and dedicated her life to making their lives as wonderful as she could. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on February 1, 2025 at St. Timothy's Anglican Church located at 8901 FM 449, Hallsville, Texas, officiated by Rev. Sean Duncan.
