James Thompson Life Story

James Robert Thompson, known affectionately as James to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, just one day shy of his 62nd birthday. Born in the heart of Texas in Waco on December 31, 1961, James's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering faith that he wove through the lives of all who knew him. He departed from this world in Lovelady, Texas, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family.

James's journey began as a bright student at Lovelady High School, where his intellect and charm shone through as he graduated as Valedictorian in 1980. He carried his passion for learning and his ambition to Sam Houston State University, earning a degree in Business and Finance in 1983. James's academic achievements set the stage for a successful career that began in banking, where he dedicated seven years, before finding his true calling as a financial advisor-a role he embraced with zest for 31 years.

Behind the professional accolades stood a man of profound character and joy. James was a devoted husband to his wife, Shay Friday Thompson, and a loving father to his daughter, Katie, and son, Harrison. His role as a grandfather to Brooklynne Grace Thompson was one of his greatest joys, and he cherished every moment he spent with her. James's love extended to his sisters, Sharon Hearne, Kathryn Ferguson, Sandra Raney, and Debbie Harrelson, as well as his brother-in-law, Carl Dale Harrelson, and Mitch and Jody Friday. His nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews all held a special place in his heart, each one feeling like they were his "favorite."

James's life was marked by a love for the Aggies, reflecting his undying spirit and enthusiasm. His love for water and fishing was only matched by the joy he found in singing, traveling, and most importantly, making memories with his family and friends. James's infectious laughter was a testament to his philosophy of having a good time, no matter the circumstances.

Friends and family will remember James as the epitome of friendly and intelligent, with a faith-filled heart that guided his every action. He was a beacon of positivity, always ready to lend a helping ear or share a word of encouragement. His presence was a comforting constant in the lives of those he touched, and his legacy will be carried forward in the countless memories he created.

James's life was a reflection of his values-his unwavering dedication to his family, his commitment to his career, and his passion for life. He navigated the waters of life with grace, leaving behind a wake of love and cherished moments. James's spirit will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones, as they hold onto the precious memories of the times they shared.

As the sun sets on James's earthly journey, we celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that has made an indelible mark on this world. His laughter, wisdom, and love remain as a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to have known him. James Robert Thompson will be deeply missed, but the beauty of his life will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
