James Stewart Life Story

James M. Stewart, Jr., known affectionately as James to his friends and family, passed away peacefully from natural causes on April 5, 2024, in Gladewater, Texas. Born on November 4, 1959, in Kilgore, Texas, James's life was characterized by his friendly demeanor, loving nature, and generous spirit.

James was a proud graduate of Longview High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for his future endeavors. His work ethic and commitment to his community were evident in his long-standing career with Coca-Cola, where he dedicated nearly 37 years of service. James was not only a model employee but also an entrepreneur at heart. He once owned and operated a convenience store for 12 years alongside his former wife, Donna, serving his community with the same warmth and kindness that he carried throughout his life.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a man of many interests. He found joy and excitement in visiting casinos with his special uncle, Gene Newton. The thrill of the horse races also captured his attention, and he spent many happy afternoons engrossed in the sport. Yet, nothing compared to the love and pride he had for his family. James was a devoted father to his daughters, Shellie Benson, Stephanie Stewart, and Autumn Green. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Bricen, Alexis, Adalynn, Persephone, and Winry, whose activities and achievements brought him immense joy.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, James also leaves behind a loving family that includes his brother, Rick Stewart, and wife Lisa; nephew Mitch; niece Jennifer; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and one particularly special uncle, Gene Newton. His vast circle of friends, who were touched by his generosity and friendliness, will also feel his absence deeply. James was preceded in death by his sister Brenda and his parents, Frankie and James Stewart, Sr.

Those who knew James will remember him for the love he carried for his children and grandchildren, the kindness he extended to friends and strangers alike, and the generous nature that defined his interactions with others. His laughter and warmth filled every room, and his legacy of love and commitment to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

James's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one individual can have on so many. He navigated life's ups and downs with grace and an unwavering positive outlook that inspired all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to James M. Stewart, Jr., we celebrate a life well-lived and a man dearly loved.

In honor of James's remarkable life, his family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the love and support shown to them during this time.
