James Thomas Life Story

James Marshall Thomas, also known as Bums, passed away on November 24, 2023, at the age of 60 in Longview, Texas. He was born on June 7, 1963, in Henderson, Texas. James was a beloved husband, compassionate father, and generous friend. He was a champion of one-liners and had a contagious laugh that often followed his own jokes.

James dedicated his career as a Station Electrician Supervisor for AEP/Swepco and committed 42 years of service in many different departments. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to pass on his knowledge to others. Outside of work, James had a passion for old trucks and fishing. These were his favorite pastimes and brought him immense joy.

James had a deep love for his friends and family. He valued their presence in his life and cherished every moment spent with them. He celebrated 35 years of marriage with the "Joy of his life," Kathy, a testament to their enduring love and commitment.

In addition to his hobbies, James had a special place in his heart for Disney and Star Wars. He proudly wore this badge finding joy in the magical worlds they offered.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Welch's Funeral Home, located at 4619 Judson Rd., Longview, TX 75605. Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, November 27th. On Tuesday, November 28th, the graveside service will then be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, located at 5560 State Highway 64 in Joinerville, TX at 2 PM.

James Marshall Thomas, or Bums as he was affectionately known, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His compassion, generosity, and infectious laughter will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
