Jake Loftin Life Story

Jake Lee Loftin, known affectionately by all as Jake, was born on June 29, 1934, in Polk County, Texas. He passed away on November 7, 2023, in Harleton, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering spirit.

Jake is survived by his adored wife of 68 years, Elsie Arlene (Roberts) Loftin. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with warmth and devotion. Jake is also survived by his children, Judy Huff (Jon), William "Bill" Loftin, Linda McFarland (Steve), and James "Jim" Loftin (Christi). Moreover, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Julie, Candice, Mike Jr., Steven, Jacob, Patrick, Roman, Donovan, Autumn, Meagan, Chase, and Hollie. Jake's sister, Janie, along with numerous other family members and friends, will fondly remember him. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Loftin, Sr., his parents, Roman and Edith Loftin, and his sister, Ella Deering.

Jake spent many years working diligently as a plumber, a profession he took pride in. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was respected by all who knew him in his field. He was also a proud veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received the prestigious Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice.

Beyond his professional life, Jake had a rich array of interests that kept him active and engaged. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, taking pleasure in the serenity it offered. Jake also had a knack for carpentry and building things, always eager to engage in a new project or fix something around the house. His love for NASCAR and racing was well-known, and he enjoyed watching the races, always rooting for his favorite drivers. Jake also had a soft spot for old country music, particularly Johnny Cash, and his tunes often filled the Loftin household.

But perhaps the most enduring part of Jake's legacy is his love for his family, particularly his grandchildren. He was the quintessential doting grandfather, always ready with a kind word, a joke, or a pocket full of strawberry candies - a sweet treat that will surely remind his family of him for years to come. His unique way of never calling anything by the right word added a layer of charm to his personality and provided his loved ones with many moments of laughter and joy.
