Jacqueline L Read

Jacqueline “Jackie" or "Nana” Merle Lowrie Read was born on December 22, 1946 to parents, Dr. Robert “Bob” E. Lowrie, Ph.D. and Frances “Jill” E. Whistler Lowrie in Bellefont, PA. After a courageous and extensive battle with cancer, she peacefully passed on to be with her Lord Jesus near her home in Tyler, Texas, on June 27, 2022 at the age of 75.

Jackie graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. From there, she went to the University of Oklahoma in 1975, where she graduated with a master's degree in Library Science. Jackie was first and foremost a mother and homemaker which included providing temporary foster care for many needy children while caring for her own. She was also very proud of her career. During her time as a librarian, she was able to work for The City of Longview, The City of Bridgeport, The City of Bowie and The City of Bullard. Her hobbies included spending time with family, reading, crocheting, baking, genealogy, gardening and community service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jill on September 17, 2014 and Bob on July 4, 2009. Jackie is survived by sisters, Dr. Joanne G. Sutch, Ph.D.; Jeanne L. Williams J.D. and husband, Warren J.D.; and Janet L. Duffey and husband, Patrick “Pat." She is also survived by her son, Royce E. Read and wife Jamye, their sons, Micah E., Jonah A. and Jude W.; son, Robert “Robby” R. Read and wife Katherine “Kat”, their daughters Kaylee D. and Adrianna L.; daughter, Rebecca "Becca" E. Trimble and husband Christopher, their children Olivia “Lake” L., Alexander “Xander” R., Indiana “Indie” A. and Layla E.; and son Richard "Ricky" E. Read and wife Rachael, their children, Josh E. and Ruby L; nieces and nephews, Amanda Flowers and husband Zachary “Zach”, their children, Payton and Asher; Keith Williams and wife Kenya, their children, Everly and Carter; Meredith and husband Arjun Sivakumar; Emily Whistler; and Jessica "Jess" Duffey.

She is beloved and will be missed.

A Life Celebration® service for Jackie will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 2:00 pm in The Chapel of Welch Funeral Home. Jackie will be laid to rest following the service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Longview, Texas.
