Irby Connery Life Story

Irby was born July 23, 1947, in Dallas, Texas. She died June 3, 2025, in Round Rock, Texas. She was raised in Lancaster, Texas. Graduated from Lancaster High School in 1965 and from Texas Tech University in 1974.
Irby began work for the Texas Department of Public Welfare in Lubbock in 1974 and retired from the Texas Department of Human Services in 2001. She spent the first of her retirement years in the Grange Hall Community in Harrison County, Texas. She was a member of the Grange Hall United Methodist Church. She began the restoration of the old Blalock-Munden cemetery, setting in place a plan for its perpetual care. For several years, she donned period clothing to participate in local Civil War reenactments and grave re-dedications. She was a past member of Plainsmen Muzzle Loaders, the Harrison County Genealogical Library Association, Grange Hall Cemetery Board of Directors and Aggie Moms. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. In 2010 she moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas with Paul Fortier to be closer to her son William. There she participated in the Solos Club and Computer Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester Newton Fitzhugh and Narcissa Lee Blalock Fitzhugh and her grandparents: George Lester Fitzhugh and Lois Verna Rawlins Fitzhugh of Lancaster and Charles Stuart Blalock Sr. and Narcie Lee Jarrett Blalock of Marshall, Texas.
She is survived by her son, William Connery & Sarah Jacobs, Paul Fortier, sister Sally Garcia and brother-in-law Johnathan Garcia, niece, Laura Garcia.
A graveside service will be held June 10, 20025 at 2:00pm at the Grange Hall Cemetery Pavillion. A viewing will be held at Cammack Family Funeral Home, June 10, 2025 from 1:00pm-1:30pm
