Henry Wayne McQueen, a lifelong resident of Marshall, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, at the age of 69. He was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him. Born on May 27, 1955, to the late William Dennis McQueen and Viola Beatrice McQueen, Henry's early years in Marshall laid a strong foundation for a life characterized by love, hard work, and dedication to family.
He worked for Ed Baker and Associates as a general laborer, where he committed his talents and efforts for many years until his well-deserved retirement. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and hardworking individual who always lent a helping hand.
In his personal life, Henry was a devoted husband of 50 years to his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth McQueen, and a loving father to his daughters, Tammy McQueen Ellis (Chris) and Amy McQueen Strong (Joshua). His role as a family man extended to his cherished grandchildren-Madison Neal (Christian), Preston Ellis (MaKayla), William and Taylor Rivers, Payton Ellis, Lily Shanley, Brantley Strong, Darla Shanley, and Joe Shanley-and his adored great-grandchildren Emmersyn, Hadley, and Stetson Neal, Asher Tyson, Jameson, and Sloane Ellis.
Henry was the dear brother of Francis Abreu, Fannie Hordern, and Thomas McQueen. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Evelyn Jones (Joe), and brothers-in-law, Dave Beloney (Pam), Johnny McCoy, and Edward Champion. He was preceded in death by his siblings Annie Champion, Virginia Smith, Louise Sanders, Betty Morris, Loretta Patterson, Lois Gonzales, Mary Kuhn, Junior McQueen, Alton McQueen, Doyle McQueen, and Son McQueen. His mother-in-law, Ruby Beloney, also survives him, cherishing the memory of a son-in-law who was much more like a son.
Henry's passion for the outdoors was evident to all; he was an avid hunter and fisherman, reveling in the beauty and tranquility of nature. However, his greatest joy was found in the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. His presence at family gatherings was a source of comfort and happiness, and his stories and laughter were the highlights of every get-together.
Described by those who knew him best as loving, selfless, and thoughtful, Henry's legacy is one of unconditional love and self-sacrifice. He had a remarkable ability to make each person he met feel significant and cared for, a trait that endeared him to many and will be sorely missed.
Henry's life was a testament to the values he held dear-family, hard work, and kindness. His influence and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Henry Wayne McQueen was a man of integrity, a pillar in his community, and most importantly, a cherished husband, dad, Pawpaw, and friend. His departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit remains a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
As we bid farewell to Henry, we take solace in the knowledge that his was a life well-lived, full of moments that touched the lives of others in profound ways. We celebrate the time we had with him and find comfort in the love he shared so freely. Henry's journey on earth may have ended, but his story continues through the lives of those he loved and the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, dear Henry; your memory will forever be a treasure in the hearts of those you leave behind.
