Henry Charles Hollis, a precious boy who was known and prayed for by his parents for 35 weeks inside the womb, was born and passed away on February 9, 2024, in Shreveport, LA. Although by the time his mom and dad were able to hold him, he was already in the arms of Jesus, Henry's life left a mark on his family and reminds us to cherish the time we have with the people we love.
Little Henry, who was so longed for, was a beacon of hope and love for his parents, Skylar and Molly Hollis. His brief journey was also shared with his brother, Simon Bradley Hollis, who looked forward to the joys of brotherhood. The cherished grandson of Brad and Jamie Howlett, Damon and Dee Hollis, and Raycean Barclay, Henry was enveloped in love from the very beginning. His great-grandparents, David and Charlotte Darden, Cookie and Huck Carter, Joan Hollis, as well as Pat and Jan Downing, were ready to be his playmates and to share with him wisdom and affection passed down through generations.
Henry's legacy is carried on through his aunts and uncles, Kasey Howlett, Haden and Jay Trexler, Kate, Grace, and Maggie Downing, and Demi Hollis, all of whom looked forward to meeting and loving their sweet nephew as well as changing their fair share of diapers.
Henry was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Marvin and Gay Howlett and Charles Hollis, who are welcoming him with such joy.
In the face of this profound loss, we are reminded that every life, no matter how brief, has a purpose. We are also reminded that Henry's purpose was to bring people together, to remind us to cherish every moment, and to keep our minds on heaven. We know that in this life we can have many troubles, but sweet Henry was able to go from the comfort of his mother to eternity with Jesus. His little life makes the promise of heaven that much sweeter for those he leaves behind, and it encourages us to meet, cling to, and tell others about our Savior.
As we await a reunion with Henry, we do so with a spirit of hope and the knowledge that God will provide us comfort and peace until then. We will carry Henry in our hearts, in our thoughts, and in the very essence of our family's legacy. Rest in peace, sweet Henry. We will see you soon.
