Harry Brownlee Life Story

Harry James Brownlee, 82, passed away on June 28, 2024, in Marshall, Texas. Born on January 6, 1942, in Jacksboro, Texas, Harry was known for his loving and caring nature as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. He led a rich and full life with his beloved family by his side until the end. He leaves behind his wife, Cecile M. Brownlee; his son, James Cullum Brownlee and wife, Wendy; daughter, Kim Wright Ponder; grandchildren, Cullum and Kamryn Brownlee; sisters-in-law, Wanda Etheridge and Pat Gibson; brother-of-love, Gene Ponder; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Albert Brownlee. Harry found great enjoyment in playing tennis and "attempted" to play golf with his wife. Harry and Cecile took many trips abroad - traveling was their favorite hobby together. Harry also had a great love for cars, but his most favorite hobby was spending time with his two grandchildren. Harry graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, TX and later attended the University of North Texas, which led the foundation for his successful career as a Partner and Salesman at Maxson Mahoney & Turner where his exceptional skills in sales and customer service allowed him to leave behind an exquisite list of clientele. Harry was very involved in many local organizations such as the UNT Foundation (President for 10 years), Executive Roundtable, Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, Associated General Contractors (AGC), and the INS Group. Harry was a member of the Bent Tree Country Club, T Bar M, the Rolls Royce Owners Club (local and international), the Texas MG Car Club and was a dedicated supporter of the SMU Athletic Program. Service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 2:00pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, at The Cammack Family Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. The family suggests that contributions in Harry's memory be made to the Associated General Contractors (AGC), the INS Group, or as a tribute to his commitment to the University, the UNT Board Member initiatives. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. Online condolences may be offered at www.cammackfamily.com
