Harold Wayne Laney, Jr., known affectionately to his family and friends as Wayne, passed away peacefully in Hallsville, Texas on December 5, 2023. He was born October 5, 1974, in Gilmer, Texas to Harold Wayne, Sr. and Donna Jean (Kibodeaux) Laney. Wayne's zest for life and infectious laughter filled the hearts of those around him from his very first breath.
Wayne's early years in Gilmer were marked by a spirit of adventure that would become his signature trait. As he grew, so did his reputation for being the life of the party, always ready with a joke or a smile to brighten someone's day. His capacity for love was boundless, and he embraced every moment with an open heart, building lasting bonds with many. He was an excellent welder and worked for many years as a fabricating supervisor.
Family was the cornerstone of Wayne's life, and he was a devoted son, brother, father and uncle. Wayne is survived by his mother, Donna (Al) Kibodeaux of Gilmer, Texas, one sister Deanna (Landon) Holt of Cache, Oklahoma, three sons, Dakota (Mackayla) Laney of Longview, Texas, Stetson Laney (Haley VanNada) of Hallsville, Texas, and Wyatt Laney of Hallsville, Texas, one nephew, Haden Holt of Longview, Texas, two nieces, Macey Holt (Justin Bledsoe) of Longview, Texas, and Allyson Holt of Cache, Oklahoma, one great nephew, Gunner Bledsoe and one great niece, Brynlee Bledsoe and numerous friends that he considered family; Larry and Linda Berryman, Laci Berryman and many others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Wayne Laney, Sr. and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
Wayne's life was a testament to the joy that can be found in everyday moments. Wayne enjoyed participating in team roping with his many horses, elk hunting every year in Colorado, and spending time with his two dogs, Rayne and Ava. He had an unparalleled ability to make the ordinary extraordinary no matter where he was or who he was with. His laughter was a melody that will echo in the memories of those who knew him, a reminder to cherish the simple pleasures of life.
As we bid farewell to Wayne, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. His journey may have reached its sunset, but the light of his spirit will continue to shine in the lives of those he touched. Wayne, our son, brother, dad, uncle and friend, will be deeply missed, but his adventurous tales and loving memories will be treasured forever.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 4:30-6:30pm at Grace Creek Church in Longview, Texas with a private graveside to follow.
