Glenn D. Nelson, 75, of Harleton was welcomed into heaven on Monday, June 24, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Glenn was born January 9, 1949, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi to J.D. and Alice Nelson who preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Patti Ogden. They shared 19 years of love and memories.
Glenn was a lineman for SWEPCO for 45 years. It was a job he truly enjoyed. He loved shooting pool and working out. He was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church, served in the Coast Guard Reserves, and was a 51-year member of Pine Tree Masonic Lodge #1396. Among his greatest joys were his grandkids, who lovingly called him "Coonie".
Glenn is survived by his wife; one son, Blake Nelson; one stepson, Brandon Ogden; four grandchildren, Sydney Nelson-Barkley; Mallory and Bentley Ogden; and Karley Kenward, and two sisters, Brenda Blackburn and Janice Fancher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Joyce Ogden.
A Life Celebration funeral service for Glenn D. Nelson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, in The Chapel of The Cammack Family Welch Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation in The Library of the Cammack Family Welch Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on June 28, 2024.
