Gerald Leeper, born September 8, 1945, went home to be with his Lord at age 75 on September 6,2021 ending his courageous battle with cancer. Through Jesus; Gerald won. He showed during this time his strong faith and trust in the Lord that will hold as an example to all of us till we see him again with Jesus.
A true patriot, Gerald proudly served 14 years in the United States Army National Guard then he worked for Lacy Flour Mill in Hanford, California. He relocated to Longview, Texas and worked for Mike Stacy Construction where he enjoyed remodeling homes. He later retired from Lebus Manufacturing as a maintenance supervisor. He continued to remodel homes after retirement for his friends and family.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, his fur babies Brandi and Rosie, fishing, and loved working in his yard. He showed kindness through his actions and he was always willing to lend a hand at the drop of a hat for whoever needed it. Gerald even assisted with disaster relief after Hurricane Rita. He was a devoted member of the Alpine Church of Christ where he enjoyed the fellowship and friendships of many.
He is survived by his wife Naomi Leeper of Gilmer. His brothers Mike Stacy and sister in law Debbie Stacy of Longview, Ben Stacy of Hallsville. His daughter Jerilyn Bertao and son in law Jimmy Bertao of Manteca, California, son Brian Leeper and daughter in law Tiffany Leeper of Exeter, California, Michael Gonzales and daughter in law Charlotte Wise of Longview. Daughters Deanna Hankins and son in law Kenny Hankins of Diana, Vivian Pendarvis and son in law Rickey Pendarvis of Diana. He has 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with many more extended family members.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday, September 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home. A Life Celebration funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home.
