Gerald Gunter Life Story

On Sunday, August 16th, 2020, Gerald Roy Gunter, loving Husband, Daddy, and Poppa at the age of 76, went home to be with our Heavenly Father.
Gerald was born in Denver, Colorado on July 17, 1944, to Roy and Lillian Gunter, later moving to Kentucky, then Texas.
He graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston, TX and furthered his education at Stephen F. Austin University, receiving a degree in Business.
He worked as a heavy machinery Salesman for many years often traveling a 4 State region. After retirement he worked at Welch Funeral Home serving families and sharing the Love of Jesus during their times of loss. He recently worked for Energy Weldfab utilizing his job as a way of sharing Christ with everyone he met.
He was an active member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church where he belonged to the Koinonia Couples Class. He was a member of The Hallsville Lions Club, where he served as President for 2 years, helping serve the Hallsville Community.
Gerald was a man of strong Christian faith, devoted to God, his family, and his friends. He never met a stranger and was always reaching out to help others in their time of need.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Kay of Longview, his son Erick Gunter and wife Tanya of Crosby, Tx, grandsons, Jaden, Ethan, and Colton; his daughter Melissa Niles and husband Shane of Longview, Tx, grandsons, Hunter and Branson, granddaughters, Kaydee and Kynlee; daughter, Stephanie Robinson and husband Cody of Idalou,Tx, and granddaughter, Avery, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Roy Gunter.
A Life Celebration funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 22nd, 2020, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday, August 21st, 2020 in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home.
Gerald will live on in the memories of his loved ones and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed dearly. He may be gone from our sight, but never gone from our hearts. A life that touches others goes on forever. Goodbyes are never forever, they are not the end, just simply an I’ll miss you until we meet again!
