Genevieve Elizabeth Pearce, known affectionately to those who cherished her as Gena, completed her earthly journey and entered into eternal rest on the last day of the year 2025. Born under the winter's first snow in Marshall, Texas, on the sixth of December in the year of our Lord 1948, she departed from this world in Longview, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Gena's life was a testament to the virtues of faith, hope, and charity. She walked in the light of Christian love, embracing the teachings of our Savior with a heart full of grace. Her sisters, Mary Lee Twombly, Dorthy Neal, and Helen Linton, bear witness to her unwavering spirit, a beacon of joy in the lives of all who knew her. She was a cherished matriarch, leaving a void in the hearts of her beloved children, Amanda Shannon and Bobby Wayne Pearce Jr., as well as her adored grandchildren, Nathaniel and his wife Tk, Luke, and Destiny Shannon. Gena's great-grandchildren, Lynnlee Martinez and Leo Shannon, will grow up with tales of her kindness and mirth.
In the lineage of her life, the leaves of her family tree have felt the sorrow of parting, as Gena was preceded in death by her noble parents, Nolan and Mattie Welty, her stalwart brothers, Oscar, Buddy, Wayne, and R.C., and her tender sisters, Addie Davis and Wiliodean Welty.
Gena's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to others, as she served with a caregiver's heart, providing solace and support to those in need. This role was not merely an occupation but a calling, a manifestation of her love for her fellow man.
Her life was an open book of which every chapter was an anthem of joy. Gena found solace in the beauty of God's creation, nurturing flowers and plants with the tenderness of a Psalmist. Her laughter, as merry as the chimes of church bells, would often accompany the simple pleasure of sharing ice cream with her loyal canine companion, BeBe.
Described by those who knew her as loving, interesting, and funny, Gena's spirit was a confluence of warmth and wit. She navigated the passages of life with an ease that belied the depth of her compassion and the strength of her character.
As we reflect on Gena's life, we are reminded of the words of the poet John Donne, who wrote, "One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die." In this, we find comfort, knowing that for Gena, death is but a gateway to the divine communion with the Almighty.
Let us not mourn her passing, but celebrate the years we were blessed to share with Genevieve Elizabeth Pearce. She danced to the divine rhythm of life, and now she rests in the hallowed embrace of eternity. Her story, inscribed in the annals of time, continues to inspire and guide us, as her spirit finds solace in the heavenly garden of perpetual peace.
A Life Celebration® funeral service for Genevieve Elizabeth Pearce, will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 9th, 2026 in The Cammack Family - Marshall.
