Garry Lamar Hunt, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, in Tyler, Texas, after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on January 30, 1954, in Natchez, Mississippi, Garry's life was a testament to his resilience, generosity, and loving spirit.
Garry was known for his exceptional handiness and his ability to restore old vehicles to their former glory. His passion for wood carving showcased his artistic talent, and he often shared his creations with loved ones. Garry's commitment to his faith was evident in the countless hours he volunteered at his church, managing the sound board and performing maintenance tasks with a joyful heart.
After graduating from Marshal High School, Garry built a fulfilling career at Norit, where he dedicated 17 years before retiring. His colleagues remember him as a generous man who was always ready to lend a hand or share his expertise.
At home, Garry was the master of the smoker, delighting family and friends with his culinary skills. His love for cooking was only matched by the love he had for his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Pat Hunt; daughters, Brittany Pattillo and her spouse Kris, and Courtney Roberts and her spouse TL; and his adored grandchildren, Tre' Judalet, Gavin Hunt, Lane Templin, Jordan Templin, and Amelia Pattillo.
Garry was predeceased in death by his parents, Rayford and Dolores Hunt; brother, Larry Hunt; sister, Sharron Hunt Brady; and grandson, Toby Michael Judalet.
Garry's legacy of love, generosity, and skillful hands will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Life Celebration® funeral service for Garry Lamar Hunt, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 24th, 2024 at The Cammack Family Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas Located at 100 East Travis Street.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at The Cammack Family Sullivan Funeral Home.
