Eldretha Mitchell Life Story

Geraldine Mitchell, 84, entered into rest with her Lord, Sunday, September 19, 2021. She was born to Robert Wheatley and Brucella Waller Wheatley on July 19, 1937 in Ralston, Oklahoma.

She spent her early years with her family in the rural community of Masham, Oklahoma. She attended Victor School, a rural school located at the corner of S.H. 18 and the Masham Road. She attended Pawnee High School, graduating in 1955.

Geraldine attended the Hillcrest School of Nursing in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Immediately following graduation in August, 1958, she was employed as a RN at Pawnee Hospital.

She married her High School Sweetheart, Jake Mitchell, on September 13, 1958. Upon his graduation from Oklahoma State University, he became an engineer for Phillips Oil Company. They lived in various states. After his retirement, they made their home in Longview, Texas where Geraldine resided until her death.

Geraldine is preceded in death by husband, Jake Mitchell; her parents, Robert and Brucella Wheatley; and two brothers, Leroy and Henry Wheatley.

She is survived by son, Alan Mitchell; grandchildren, Courtney Hoffmann and Taylor Mitchell; as well as three great-grandchildren, Riley Hoffmann; Malachi Medina; and Silas Medina. Geraldine is also survived by siblings, Robert Wheatley of Grizzley Flats, CA and Norma Plank of St. Peters, MO.

Geraldine dearly loved her family and got together with them as often as possible. She and her siblings loved to share stories about their early experiences growing up in a small rural community.

The family invites friends to celebrate her life at a graveside service October 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. This will be at the Ralston Riverside Cemetery. They would like all friends and acquaintances to share this time with them.
