Mrs. Allen passed away in a Longview hospital on July 17,2020, surrounded by numerous family and friends. Eldora was born in Bayou Cane, La. on December 21, 1929 and lived most of her young life there. She married Eugene Allen in 1949 in Louisiana and moved to Tatum, Tx where they made a home and raised their family. Eugene and Eldora worked hard and one of their greatest pleasures was to be able to share their harvest from their garden with friends and family. Eldora was always proud of her Louisiana heritage. It was especially reflected in her cooking skills, and she also loved to eat good Cajun food. Friends and family knew that she would never pass up a good competitive game of dominoes or SKIP-BO, and she looked forward to playing them for hours. She had everyone’s birthday written in a notebook and she would never miss an opportunity to call and wish them happiness on their day. Eldora could bring a smile to any face she ever met and warmth to any room. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be sorely missed by them. Eldora is preceded in death by: Parents- Martin and Leontine Ashley, Husband- Eugene Allen, Daughter- Peggy Burchard, Brothers- Sanko, Dudley, C.J., Burl, and Calvin. Sisters- Flavia, Dot, and Flo. Eldora is survived by- Son Bert (Susan) Allen Of Longview, Daughters- Debbie (Mark) Gilbert of Longview, Patsy Keiner(Johnny Traffanstedt) of Kilgore, Son-in-law- Jimmy Burchard of Tatum, and Step daughter-Kathy Harrell of Crockett. Grandchildren-Brian (Kim) Allen, Timmy (Jalisa) Burchard, Brandon (Amy) Stevenson, Jenny (Kevin) Gilbreath, Ashley (Mikel) Mcniel, Melissa Keiner and fiance (Garrett Williamson) Brothers- Winston Ashley of West Virginia, and Hughey Ashley of Louisiana. Great grandchildren- Kayln, Brenton, Dylan, Gracie, Dallen, Ally, Lilly, Blake, Josh, Hadley, and Elaina. Numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. As much as Eldora loved gardening, food, and games, she loved her Lord and Savior more. She was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Caregivers class. Every Sunday, the children always looked forward to their hug from Eldora and she enjoyed them just as much. The family would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors of the ICU at Longview Regional for all of the care and compassion that was received during her stay. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family request that donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church PO Box 8286 Longview, Tx. 75607
