Edwin Walker Life Story

Edwin Vance Walker, affectionately known as Vance to his friends and family, departed from this life on January 13, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Born on April 14, 1951, to the late Howard Vance and Jeral Dean Walker, Vance's early years in Shreveport laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication, service, and joy. Vance's life was one of enduring love and commitment, beautifully exemplified by his 26-year marriage to his beloved wife, Marianna Dyar Walker. Together, they raised a family that included their children Clay Walker and his wife Jess, Jenny Jobe and her husband Mike, Luke Walker, LeAnna Anderson, and Michael Brown and his wife Claudia. Vance's legacy continued to flourish through his grandchildren Brandon Walker and his wife Mindy, Melana Uland and her husband Joseph, Allen Jobe, Aaron Jobe, Mia Brown, Tyler Brown, Clay Timmons and wife, Katlyn, Mady Timmons and fiance, Malachi Pipkin and great-grandchildren Valerie Walker and Hera Tove Jobe. He was the cherished brother of Roby Bryant, Colene Haston and her husband Joel, and John Walker and his wife Melinda. His extended family of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends will remember Vance as a man who brought warmth and light into their lives. Vance proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force before embarking on a six-year apprenticeship that would see him become a Master Carpenter. With a particular expertise in historic restorations, his skillful hands and keen eye for detail were evident in the structures he helped preserve for future generations. His passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. A proud member of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) in Marshall, Vance's love for aviation was only matched by his musical talent, which he shared with the Monday Night Pickers. His competitive spirit shone through in his participation with the Harrison County Go Texas Team, and his prowess in the kitchen led to multiple chili cook-off victories. Vance's dedication to his faith and community was steadfast. He served as the Administrative Board Chair at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, where he also led the music. A founding member of the 100th Psalm, he was a devoted member of the church, continually sharing his love for song and fellowship. Known for his cowboy spirit, Vance was a well-respected figure at numerous West Texas ranches, including the legendary 6666 Ranch. Despite his many interests and accomplishments, Vance's true passion was his family. The time he spent with them, sharing stories, laughter, and love, was the most precious to him. Vance's life was a testament to the values of hard work, faith, community, and family. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind. As we bid farewell to Edwin Vance Walker, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a journey marked by the joy he found in every day and the love he gave so freely. His was a life well-lived, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
