Dorothy May Flournoy

Dorothy May Ford Flournoy, age 87, of Longview, TX passed away on
August 8, 2025 at Hospice of East Texas Home Place in Tyler, Texas. A
service will be held at 11:00 am on August 14, 2025 with visitation
one hour prior at 10 a.m. at The Cammack Family Welch Funeral Home in
Longview, TX with Rev. Tony Harp officiating. Burial will follow at
Timpson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Timpson, TX at 2:30 p.m.

Dorothy was born in Leonard, Texas, to Jimmie Ford and Jewel Murray
Ford on February 11, 1938. She went to school in Bells, Texas. She
married Henry Dalton Flournoy on April 21, 1961 at Waugh Drive Baptist
Church in Houston, Texas. Dorothy was a retired teacher from
Gladewater and Beckville ISDs who held a Master of Education degree
from Stephen F. Austin State University and was a member of Longview
Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Jewel Ford. Her
husband of 48 years, Henry Dalton Flournoy and brother, Thomas Ford
and sister-in-law Velma Ford.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dale Flournoy of Timpson, TX and
Delbert Flournoy of Gilmer TX; grandson Tad Flournoy of Timpson, TX;
brothers-in-law: Guy Flournoy of Shreveport, LA, George Duke of
Timpson, TX, and John Lewis of Huntington, TX; sisters-in-law: Carolyn
Flournoy of Tenaha. TX, Rachel Brannon and husband Ronnie of
Hallsville, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
