David Alfred Brinkley, known affectionately as David to his family and friends, passed away at the age of 49 in Marrero, Louisiana, on May 22, 2024. Born on December 3, 1974, in Newton, Texas, he was a man whose life was characterized by his loving nature, his keen sense of humor, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him. David's early life in Texas laid a strong foundation for the man he would become. David's career spanned over 25 years in the oil and gas industry, where he began his journey working on land and offshore rigs. His dedication and expertise saw him rise through the ranks to become a company man and eventually take on a corporate leadership role. As the owner of Brinkley Energy Partners, David was respected for his work ethic and commitment to mentoring the next generation of workers in the oilfield. Family was the center of David's world. His engagement to Cindy Thompson was a source of immense joy and companionship. They blended their lives, sharing love and laughter that carried them through life together. David and Cindy enjoyed spending their life with David's children: Heaven, Brandon, Brianna, Jerry Don Brinkley and their beloved fur-baby Lucy! David was a cherished son to his mother, Patsy Love, and a beloved brother to Douglas Brinkley. His role of grandfather was one he revered, whereby adored by his grandchildren: Skylar, Carter, Kinley, Gunner, Parker, Julian, James, Cohen, and Weston. David's interests reflected his love for the natural world. He found solace and excitement in the great outdoors, often taking his children and grandchildren on hunting and fishing trips. These excursions were not just pastimes, but opportunities for David to teach, share stories, and create lasting memories with his loved ones. The legacy of these experiences will be cherished by his family for generations to come. Those who knew David will remember him for his ability to light up a room with his humor and for the warmth he radiated. His presence was a comfort and a joy while his absence will be deeply felt by many. David's kindness extended beyond his family and friends, evident in the way he conducted his business and in the respectful relationships he nurtured throughout his career. David's life was a testament to the values he held dear: love, family, and hard work. As we bid farewell to a man of such admirable character, we take solace in the knowledge that his spirit lives on through the lives he touched and the natural beauty he so loved to explore. David leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. His memory will be held in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. David has left an indelible mark on this world. Though he may be gone, he will never be forgotten.
