Christine was born November 14, 1950, in Marshall, Texas to Rodney and Hattie Mae Cooper. Her parents' main endeavor as Farmers/Entrepreneurs was to ensure that she and other family members received a good education. Ms. Cooper attended the Marshall Independent School District and graduated from Pemberton High School. She received her bachelors' degree from Wiley College in 1975. Her work career included in some capacity clerical, office manager, and human resource director with General Telephone Company, Hughes AirCraft in Los Angeles, California and Quantimetrix Corporation in Redondo Beach, California. Ms. Cooper touched many lives as a featured performing songstress with the Merging Traffic Recording Band during her early life. She, also, sang for charity to lift up others spiritually through song and giving thanks for the many blessings bestowed in her life.
She united with True Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on February 24, 1980. During her tenure at True Friendship, she was a member of the church choir and the Voices of True Friendship. Ms. Cooper was also an integral part of the Women's Ministry and the Mission Society. She conjoined with church ministries (Galilee Baptist Church of Longview) and praise ministries (Women Worshiping God through Music and Church of Marshall Praise Team) intermittently between her East Texas and California venue. Upon her final return to East Texas, Ms. Cooper joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas where the Reverend Steve Miller is Pastor. Ms. Cooper served in the capacities of Church Clerk and a member of the church choir. Her ultimate desire was to be laid to rest by her son Byron in Inglewood, California. Ms. Cooper was married to Gus Wayne Barkers and to that union, Byron Wayne Barkers, her son was born. Byron (deceased) and Nikia (California) are parents of Quinton Miles Barkers, Chris' grandson. Quinton is and has always been Ms. Cooper's Pride and Joy! Quinton sparked within her explicit conversations and actual travel to see him as often as life would permit. Christine is survived by her grandson, Quinton Miles Barkers (California), three sisters: Eloise Martin (Austin), Sylvia Williams, (Joseph, deceased) and Dr. Rosemary Daniels; three brothers: Woody Rodney Cooper (Annie), Gary Cooper (Linda, deceased) and Steve Cooper (Gurdy, deceased), The Barkers Family, a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and a host of Special Friends ...; Christine, also, leaves her California Family: True Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Sister Julia Nash, Joanne Nash, Diane's Family and Friends, Quinton Barkers, Nikia Polidore, Lottie Blake, Peggy Davis, Marcus Wade, Velma Wade, LeMont Gross (Nevada) ...; and a host of Special Friends. ....
