Carolyn Ann Myers, known affectionately to all as Carolyn, passed away on April 14, 2025, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 73. Born on August 2, 1951, in Grand Prairie, Texas, Carolyn lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her many passions. Carolyn was the cherished daughter of the late Roy Curtis and Betty May Jones. Her early years in Grand Prairie laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and love of the arts. She attended South Grand Prairie High School, where she discovered her talent for music, playing the violin, viola, and remarkably competing in UIL with the cello, an instrument new to her at the time. After high school, Carolyn's professional journey began as a skilled secretary, where she excelled in typing and shorthand, often being recognized for her exceptional speed and proficiency. Her work ethic and dedication were a testament to her character, and she carried these traits into every facet of her life. Carolyn's heart was always at home, with her beloved husband of 21 years, Donald Wesley Myers. Their marriage was a testament to true love and partnership, filled with precious moments and mutual adoration. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home where family and friends gathered to share in their joy. Blessed with three children, Linda Clark and her husband Ezell, Leigh Ann Hanes, and George "Jakk" Shelton, Carolyn was a nurturing and guiding force in their lives. She was a proud grandmother to Annaleigh Stone and her husband Brook Whitehead, Kaylin Klein, Ambrin Hanes, Joseph Stone, Sean Hanes, Marin Hanes, Grace Clark, and Tristan Hanes. Her grandchildren were her absolute delight, and she would boast of their achievements and milestones with unbridled pride. Carolyn had a deep and unwavering faith, which she expressed through her involvement with Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was a shining example of living one's beliefs, teaching English and sharing the Gospel with online students, touching lives through her wisdom and compassion. Her interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. Carolyn had an abiding love for Christmas, and her enthusiasm for the holiday was evident in the numerous decorations that filled her closets, ready to transform her home into a winter wonderland each year. Music from her jukebox, featuring oldies but goodies, often filled the rooms, setting a backdrop for her other favorite pastime, home decor. The spaces she created were as warm and inviting as her personality. Carolyn's life was one of vibrant engagement with the world around her. Her love story with Don was one for the ages, and her dedication to her family was unparalleled. Her absence will be deeply felt by her loved ones and the community that she so positively impacted. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the enduring power of family and faith. Carolyn Ann Myers will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind a family united in their gratitude for her life and their memories filled with the joy she brought them. Carolyn's life will be celebrated in the hearts of those she leaves behind, including her devoted husband, children, grandchildren, and the numerous friends and extended family members who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished, and her influence will continue to be felt by all who loved her.
