Bill Voss, 95, of White Oak, passed from this life on March 18, 2025. He was born on January 29, 1930 in Fort Smith Arkansas, the son of Richard and Eva Voss. He grew up in Hector Arkansas. As a Missionary Baptist preacher, he pastored several churches across Arkansas and Texas in his adult life, but spent the last 58 years in White Oak, Texas.
Bill married Patricia Louise Sparkman on June 23, 1951 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Van Buren, Arkansas. Bill placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior after after serving in the Air Force. He surrendered to the gospel ministry in 1953 and graduated from the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock Arkansas in 1958.
Bill pastored the following churches: Pleasant Valley MBC in Batesville Arkansas, Main Street MBC in Mulberry Arkansas, Calvary MBC in Magnolia Arkansas, White Oak (Texas) MBC, Marshall (Texas) MBC, and Greggton (Texas) MBC. He was also interim pastor at four churches in Texas: Longview MBC, Overton MBC, Greggton MBC, and Parkway MBC.
Bill became skilled at upholstery before entering the ministry. He continued to upholster furniture throughout his life and worked at Longview Awning and Upholstery from 1973-1990. He was a favorite of many local interior designers and did work for numerous banks, funeral homes, and individuals. His upholstered pieces are treasured by his family members.
Survivors include his daughter Beverly Carpenter of White Oak, Texas; daughter Pam Wyatt and husband Brad of Longview, Texas; grandson Beau Carpenter and wife Kristin of Kingwood, Texas; grandson Chase Carpenter and wife Dawn of Tarkington, Texas; grandson Justin Wyatt of Pearland, Texas; granddaughter Emily Wyatt and husband Mike of Houston, Texas; four great-granddaughters Avery, Linley, Cami, and Clare; his younger sister Judy Bostic; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat of 65 years, his brother James and Don, and sisters Cleta, Mary, Betty Jo, Doris, and Maydell.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 21st at 1:00 pm at Welch Funeral Home and funeral services immediately following at 2:00 pm with Bro. Tony Harp officiating. Bro. Roger Bynog will officiate a private interment at Lakeview Memory Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Greggton Missionary Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
