Brenda Lynn Bishop

Brenda Bishop, 59, of Marshall, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 27, 2023. She was born on August 26, 1963, to Elton Wade Bishop and Luz Bishop in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Devotion was the theme of her life and was evidenced by her unending love for her children and grand children who she fiercely protected. A loyal friend, Brenda never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on those she interacted with. Supporting the military was a top priority throughout her life due to her father, uncle, brother, and sons who all served in the United States Army. Brenda was a professional blackjack dealer and most recently worked at Margaritaville Resort. In her spare time she enjoyed completing home improvement projects, working in her flower garden, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elton Wade Bishop.

Brenda is survived by her mother, Luz Bishop of Marshall, Texas; sister, Carleen Bishop and husband, George of Longview, Texas; brother, Nelson Bishop of Euless, Texas, companion, Jose Jimenez of Marshall, Texas; son, Hector Nieves, and wife, Reina, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son, Eric Nieves and wife, Jennifer of Hallsville, Texas; and daughter, Jaysa Jimenez-Bishop and husband, Lenny Rivera of Gilmer, Texas; and eleven grandchildren, Joniel Nieves; Naiara Nieves; Allan Vogt; Adrian Benavides; Aislyn Benavides; Andrew Beall; Madison Nieves; Clara Nieves; Jaykob Rivera; Liam Rivera; and Ethan Rivera; and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home. A Life Celebration funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home
