Dolores "Billie" Wappler July 21, 1931 - December 22, 2025 Dolores "Billie" Wappler, a woman of deep and abiding faith, loving devotion, and a generous heart, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on July 21, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Joseph Emile and Clara Geneva Alwell Whelan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emile and Clara; her husband, Walter Wappler; her brother, John Joseph "Pete" Whelan; her sisters, Ramona Wensley and Geraldine Samanie, and countless other family members and friends. Billie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was truly beloved by all who knew her throughout her life. Known for her fiery spirit and warm heart, Billie cared fiercely for others and lived her life rooted in compassion, humility, and service. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided every role she held within her family and community. After retiring from the healthcare profession where she nurtured the elderly, Billie dedicated her own golden years to caring for the children of many families in the Marshall area. She viewed serving others as both a calling and a ministry, offering love, patience, and stability to every child and elder entrusted to her. Her home and business were places of warmth, faith, and welcome. Billie was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, where she faithfully served the Lord through prayer, volunteer work, and quiet acts of kindness. Her strong Catholic faith was evident in the way she lived-through selflessness, generosity, and an unwavering trust in God. Billie enjoyed traveling and reading, always eager to learn and reflect, and found great comfort and strength in her spiritual life. She is survived by her son, Michael Reilly, and wife, De'Ann; daughter, Kathleen Abraham, and husband, Bill; her grandchildren, Christian Reilly, Lacey Reilly-Bertrand and husband, Fabien, Hannah Abraham Roisum and husband, Robert, Helayna Abraham Mabry and husband, Collin, Mia Abraham and husband, James Pritchard; and her great-grandchildren, Sophia Reilly, Atticus Reilly, Simone Bertrand, and Edie Bertrand. Billie's legacy is one of faith, love, and service. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Visitation will be on January 2, 2026 from 12:00- 1:30 at The Cammack Family Sullivan Funeral Home followed by a 2:00 Celebration of Life service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
