Betty Sue Pope, age 88, passed peacefully from this Earth February 4, 2021. She spent her last days surrounded by and loved on by her family. She was born March 10,1932, in White Oak, Texas to Lonnie and Eunice Wright. She married her best friend and love, Richard Pope, in June of 1973, who preceded her in death in 2012.
Betty Sue loved to love on people. She worked as a waitress in various places throughout her life and made an abundance of life long friendships. Nana, as she was known by many, loved babies and children especially her grand, great and even great great grandchildren. She loved her furbabies she had throughout her years. She found joy in gardening, vegetables and flowers, and sharing the fruits of her labor in a hot meal for those around her. She loved God and was strong in her Christian faith. Betty liked to shop and could be seen some late nights wandering the aisles of Walmart. By far her family was most important to her. She loved her family, like really LOVED them, the way the bible says. She always met you with a smile and found the good in everything and everyone. Her loving presence will be missed by so many.
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32-"And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and 3 grandsons.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brotheR, Loy Wright and wife, Sharon; daughters, Patricia Rowland; Teri Witt and husband, Ron; Monica Townsend and husband, Robert; Sally Goode and husband, Brett; sons, Ken Rowland and wife, Mary; and Brett Rowland; 21 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home. A LIfe Celebration will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Evers officiating.
