Betty Morine Vines Butler, known affectionately as Morine to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, in Longview, Texas. Born on December 3, 1933, in Emmet, Arkansas, to Earl C. Vines and Ruby Dorman Vines, Morine grew up surrounded by the love and warmth of a close-knit family. Her life was a testament to the values of dedication, kindness, and family, which she embodied every day.
Morine graduated from high school with a passion for numbers and details, which led her to a fulfilling career as a bookkeeper. She spent many years managing accounts with precision and care at Craig Furniture and later at Logan and Whaley. Her colleagues revered her for her meticulous work ethic and her warm, engaging personality. Morine's professional life was marked by the same commitment and love that she showed in every aspect of her personal life. Beyond her professional endeavors, Morine was a voracious reader who found great joy in the pages of books. She cherished the quiet moments spent in the company of a good story, often sharing her favorite reads with those she loved. Morine's interests extended to her home life, where she created an environment filled with laughter, wisdom, and endless support for her family. Family was the cornerstone of Morine's life. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl C. Vines, her mother, Ruby Dorman Vines, her beloved husband, Robert D. Butler, her son Robert "Bobby" D. Butler, Jr., and her brother Morris D. Vines. The legacy they shared continues through her devoted sister, Brenda V. Eggleston, and sister-in-law, Carolyn B. Vines. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her daughter-in-law, Teresa S. Butler, her son, Greg S. Butler and his wife, Christine, and her daughter, Shari B. Perazzolo and her husband, Adriano. Morine was a cherished grandmother to Gregory S. Butler, Jr., Christi L. Butler Owens and her husband, Dustin, and Laura B. Frith and her husband, Kyle. She took immense pride in her role as a great-grandmother to Caleb, Rielagn, Charley, Kinzley, Bryce, and Bella, instilling in them the importance of love and family. Morine also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Her life was a tapestry of moments shared with those she loved, from quiet afternoons reading to joyous family gatherings where her presence was a comforting and unifying force. Morine's wisdom, her gentle guidance, and her unconditional love shaped the lives of her family, creating a legacy of love that will endure for generations to come.
As we say goodbye to Morine, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, her work, and her passions. Her laughter, her stories, and her love are gifts that will forever remain with us. Morine's spirit, her kindness, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Morine's life will be honored and remembered in a private ceremony, where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate the remarkable woman she was. In her memory, we carry forward the values she held dear, the love she freely gave, and the strength of her character that left an indelible mark on the world. Morine's journey on earth has ended, but her story lives on through the lives she touched and the love she leaves behind.
