Alice Sue Mullinax Clark, known affectionately as Sue to her friends and family, passed away on May 8, 2025, in Gladewater, Texas after a lengthy illness. Born on December 11, 1932, in Wink, Texas, Sue's radiant spirit and enduring optimism touched many throughout her 92 years of life.
Sue's roots were deeply planted in the Texas soil where she was born and would eventually build her life. She attended North Texas University, proudly becoming a member of the Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority and the esteemed Green Jackets. Her love for education blossomed further when she attained her master's in education from SFA University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Her remarkable career in education spanned several years across Arizona, Texas and Louisiana, where she devotedly taught at various schools, ultimately specializing in Special Education. Sue retired in 1994 from Marshall, Texas, after pouring her heart into teaching and shaping countless lives. In her community, she was a valued member of the Retired Teachers Association, regularly convening with the women's group in her neighborhood, and upholding the tenets of lifelong learning and service.
Sue was a beacon of love and strength for her family. She was married to her high school sweetheart Keith Clark for 64 years, who predeceased her, and their infant son Kevin. Her legacy lives on through her devoted children, her son Greg Clark and his wife Jeanie, her daughter, Robyn Moore and her husband Dan, and her adored grandchildren, Brian Clark with wife Lindsey, John Clark with wife Taylor, Logan Moore with wife Kayla, and Alison Thomas with husband Taylor. Sue was also the proud great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren: Thomas, Lola, James, Leslie, Audrey, Jaxon, Rowen, and Lylah, and one great granddaughter on the way. Additionally, her life is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and brother.
Sue and Keith had a passion for adventure, which led to countless treasured memories as they explored the United States and Canada with their travel trailer. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Baylor football team and enjoyed spending football seasons in Waco, Texas. Her interests extended beyond her front door to wherever she could share joy-whether amidst the roaring cheers of a game or the quiet playtimes with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those who knew Sue experienced her as the embodiment of life lived with a loving, optimistic, and faith-filled heart. Her vibrant smile and encouraging words were a source of comfort and inspiration. She had the exceptional ability to see the good in every situation and to instill hope in the hearts of others.
Our lives are undoubtedly richer for having been graced by Sue's presence, for her loving kindness and unwavering positivity have left an indelible mark.
