Thelma Pauline Moss was born December 29, 1918, at Sand Flats, near Gilmer, Texas. Pauline, as she liked to be called, left this earth on January 16, 2019. She had 100 wonderful years on this earth. Born to Dosie Bell Wilson and Lonnie Winston Wright, Pauline was the youngest of three brothers and four sisters. Pauline went to Spring Hill schools. Pauline was of the Baptist Faith.
Pauline married Curtis Warner Moss December 12, 1936, and lived in the Houston area before coming back to the White Oak, Texas area where she lived most of her life. She became an LVN and worked as a nurse in Houston at various hospitals. When she moved back to White Oak, she worked as a nurse in the Gladewater area.
Pauline and Curtis were members of Tex-A-Go, a Good Sam's Travel Club. Pauline loved to dance, play dominoes, cards, and bingo. For many years, Pauline was in a quilting club in White Oak. Pauline lived on Gillespie Street in White Oak for fifty years, until 2012 when she moved to Azalea House Assisted Living in Henderson. She then moved to Eden Place in Longview, Texas. Pauline had lived at Wesley House Assisted Living in Gilmer for over two years.
Pauline is survived by her three children, Elizabeth June Rogers Hammond and husband Elmer, of Houston; Paula Jean Dowell of Houston; and John Curtis Moss and wife, Sharon of Union Grove; grandchildren, Brad Dowell and wife, Julie of Fort Worth; Jill Dowell of Washington, D.C.; Tina Mott and husband, Troy of Largo, Florida; Dean Rogers and wife, Alisha of Houston; Michael Carne of Fort Worth; and Kelli Carne of Hurst, Texas; and numerous great grandchildren.
Pauline had 100 happy years of life filled with many friends. She will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.
A Life Celebration funeral service for Thelma Moss will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019, in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday, January 21, 2019, between the hours of 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home
