Sammy was born on August 14th, 1946 in Gilmer, TX, to Donald and Addie Ricks. He was the youngest of three boys. He spent most of his life in East Texas where he graduated from Gladewater High School in 1965. Sammy and Carolyn have two daughters, Jennifer and Sarah. Prior to his health issues, Sammy enjoyed fishing and taking his daughters water skiing and camping. He enjoyed watching is oldest daughter dance during Friday night football games and watching his youngest play softball. Sammy had a wonderful sense of humor and had a kind heart. He loved the Lord and loved taking his family to church on Sundays. Sammy knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and we rejoice in knowing he with Him now.
