Roberta Lynn (Gafford) Simmons

Bobbie Simmons age 89 of Longview, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 17th, 2019 at her home. She was born on February 12th, 1930 in Irran, Texas to Mary and Richard Homer Gafford. She later married James Anderson Gibson and he precedes her in death.

Bobbie was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She was a LVN in her younger years and a homemaker for her husband and family. Bobbie met and married Maurice Allen Simmons. The couple enjoyed traveling in their motorhome especially traveling back to Kansas where she was raised. Books were an important part of her life as Bobbie was an avid reader.

She is survived by two sons; Richard Anderson Gibson and wife Penny of Longview and James Anderson Gibson Jr. of Longview, four grandchildren Adrienne Deason and husband Chris, James Anderson Gibson III, Jennifer Beam and husband John and Oehmcke Campell and husband Danny and six great-grandchildren, siblings Mary K. Stanley and Jack Gafford and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are both her husbands, both parents, two sons Jimmie Wayne Gibson and David Allen Gibson.

A Life Celebration will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ted White officiating. A private family burial will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
