Richard Dale Schroeder was born on August 24, 1938 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. He was the son of Harold and LaVera (Lopau) Schroeder, who preceded him in death. On July 9, 1966 he married Shirley Lorraine Letto in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She survives. He is also survived by his son Gregory (Lisa) of Nacogdoches and his daughter Jennifer (Michael) Weber of Peoria, Illinois. He adored his grandkids and was blessed to have five: Taylor, Lane, Aiden, Jamie, and Caitlin. Dick was the eldest of 6 children and is survived by his brothers Jerry (Rosemary) Schroeder and Kent (Judy) Schroeder, and sisters Karen (William) Whitehead and Vera Madison. He was preceded in death by his sister Rita (Daniel) Miller and his brother in law Alfred Madison. Dick spent the first 4 decades of his life in Wisconsin and then relocated, along with his family, to Longview Texas. He absolutely loved being a Texan, and made his home in East Texas from June 1988 until June 2019. He retired as the Chief Financial Officer for Scot Industries in Lone Star in 2009. He loved the Wisconsin Badgers, the Green Bay Packers, and vintage cars - especially Ford Thunderbirds. Services will be held Monday, July 1 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home in Longview. There will be a visitation one hour before the service. Interment for family will follow at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 2 at Sunset Cemetery in Nacogdoches. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests a charitable donation to First Lutheran Church of Longview.
