Newman Ray (Gilbert) Gilbert

   A Life Celebration for Newman Ray Gilbert, 85, of Longview will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m.:Wednesday, January 9, 2019, in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Gilbert passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on January 7, 2019. He was born July 2, 1933, in Scroggins, Texas to George and Ira Gilbert.
   After working 37 years for Texas Eastman, he retired in 1993 He later worked eleven years for PTI, and again retired in August 2018. He was a longtime member of New Journey Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher.
   His wife of many years, Patricia Ann and youngest son, Thomas Lynn, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Garvis, Troyce, and Talmadge Gilbert.
   He is survived by his daughter, Amy Gilbert Adams and husband, Jerry; and sons, David Gilbert and wife, Deborah; and Alan Gilbert and wife Donna; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Carolyn Crocker.
