Melvin League Life Story
A Life Celebration for Melvin Eugene League, age 90, of Longview, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Welch officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019, at the funeral home. Mr. League passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
Mr. League was born October 12,1928, in El Dorado, Arkansas to Schuyler and Maud League. He graduated from Spring Hill High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After an honorable discharge, he was employed by United Gas Pipeline, retiring after 36 years. Mr. League was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James H. League; and a nephew, Kenny.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie League of Longview; son, Schuyler and wife, Kathy of Ruston, LA; grandchildren, SSGT Justin League (USMC) and wife, Sue of Oceanside, CA; Kaitlyn League of Ruston, LA; four great-grandchildren; three nephews, Wayne, Wade, and Steve and their families.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Heritage Health Care and Heritage Hospice for their continued care of their loved one.
