Leona “Edee” McMillan Browning of Lakewood, CO formerly a resident of White Oak, TX, passed away on June 10, 2019, at the age of 84.

Edee was born in Cotton Plant, AR on July 25, 1934, to George and Ethel McMillan. She was a graduate of Gilliam School in Gilliam, AR. Edee worked as a teletyper at Western Union, a seamstress at a local sewing factory and a housekeeper/nanny for a very loving family in the Longview area. On January 28 ,1955, she married the love of her life, Donald Ray Browning. Edee and Don were known and respected as model parents, trusted and helping neighbors and loyal supporters of the White Oak Schools and community.

Edee enjoyed life to the fullest by being around her family and friends. Family was of the utmost importance to her. People will always remember her signature cooking, particularly her fried chicken, Christmas candies and biweekly batches of cookies. She was a creative and skilled seamstress, always taking on requests from friends and family to repair, alter or even make new clothing by hand. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens, antique shopping, walking, and reading. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Edee was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Donald Ray; her parents, Ethel and George McMillan, her siblings, Fred “Hot Shot” McMillan, Tom McMillan, Eloise Cole, John McMillan and Emmett McMillan. Edee is survived by her siblings: Clarice McDowell, Audrey Young, Rilla Salazar and James “Bowie” McMillan. Edee leaves to cherish her loving memory, her children: Mike Browning and wife, Cindy of Fort Edward, NY; Ronnie Browning and wife, Roxanne of Longview, TX; Mark Browning and wife, Debbie of Edgewood, TX; and Donna Browning Burke and husband, Steve of Lakewood, CO. Her grandchildren: Heather Vineyard, Jacob Sharp, Andrea Casiano, Matthew Browning and Bethany Sharp. In addition, she was blessed with precious great grandchildren: Jazmine Sharp, Mykayla Casiano, Trinity Callahan, Jacqueline Hubert, Tristan Sharp, Aden Vineyard, Landree Vineyard, Curtis Smith and Myers Browning along with a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and life-long friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Welch Funeral Home at 4619 Judson Rd, Longview, TX.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 1:00 PM in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the New White Oak Cemetery.
