Johnnie Eugene (Gene) Shelton
A Life Celebration graveside service for Johnnie Eugene (Gene) Shelton, 74, of Longview will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Old East Mountain Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at Welch Funeral Home.
Gene passed away Monday morning, November 12, 2018, after a long illness. He was born September 4, 1944, in Athens Texas. He joined the United States Navy in July 1964, spent time in VietNam and then a tour in Antarctica. He then went to work with the post office and retired in 2006.
Gene will be sincerely missed by his wife, Sandra; three sons, John Jr.; Joseph and James; two step-daughters, Dena and Joy; three granddaughters, Heather; Jessie and Kennedy; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of customary remembrances please make a memorial contribution in Johnnie's name to Old East Mountain Cemetery, 360 Susan Road, Gladewater, Texas 75647.
