Joe Gaylon Kuykendall, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, in Longview, Texas. Joe was born April 1, 1926, in Longview, Texas to Joe Henry Kuykendall and Tessie Irene Kuykendall. Joe was a very quiet, strong and generous man who loved to garden and collect coins. He was a very caring father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Joe was a deacon, usher and 4th grade Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Navy and was an accountant at Killingsworth Oil Co. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ola Mae; brother, Carroll Kuykendall. Joe is survived by a daughter, Lori Ann Kuykendall; son, Joe David Kuykendall (Cheryl); grandchildren, Rachel Kuykendall and Emily Kuykendall; brother, Don Kuykendall and his wife Linda; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Welch Funeral Home. There will be a visitation at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Arabella as well as Heartsway Hospice for the care that they provided.
