Douglas Fred Hupe, 74, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all. Douglas entered the heavenly gates on, November 14, 2019, at his residence in Longview, Texas. Douglas was born on, September 15, 1945, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Albert and Rita Hupe. He was one of nine children. He was an accomplished Machinist and Army Veteran who loved building playhouses for his children and grandchildren. In 1968, he met the love of his life, Penelope Eve (Kluth) Hupe, and they married in 1969 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Douglas and Penelope went on to have four children, Nicole, Noelle, Benjamin, and Natalie. Douglas and his family moved to Longview, Texas in the early 1980’s where they raised their children together before Penelope passed in 1996. In addition to being a dedicated husband and father, Doug also loved being a member of the Knights of Columbus, as a Fourth Degree Knight, an avid golfer, an Army Veteran, and loved to volunteer his time visiting the sick and less fortunate. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his friends, children, and grandchildren. Doug never met a stranger and during conversations he always found some way to crack a joke. Doug’s generosity and kindness touched many lives. Throughout his adult life, he held an unwavering faith in God, never missing a Sunday Mass as he attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Church since the early 1980’s. He is survived by his children, Nicole Matsuyama and husband Ikuji Matsuyama of Japan, Noelle Bui and husband Jonathan Bui of McKinney, TX, Benjamin Hupe of San Marcos, TX, and Natalie Mittal and husband Manish Mittal of Cypress, TX; grandchildren Miki Matsuyama, Kei Matsuyama, Maddox Bui, Jaxson Bui, and Benjamin Mittal; sisters Barbara, Rita, and Pat; brothers Jerry and Chuck; and numerous other relatives.
