Tom West Life Story

Marion Thomas West was born January 20, 1950 in Starkville, Mississippi to Bill and Avis West. At two years old the family moved to Longview where he would grow up and graduated from Longview High School in 1968. He met his wife, Nancy Kelley, in 1972 and married in 1973. He left his worldly piece of Heaven at Lake Cherokee September 20, 2018 surrounded by friends and family.

Tom enjoyed the scenic route of life. He shared a smile with all he met, would give you the shirt off his back, and added joy to any occasion. He owned West Drum, was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and served on the Tatum ISD School Board. He also was a member of the Jucys breakfast round table counsel. He had a firecracker personality that was larger than life and was known to some as “Boom!”

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas V “Bill” and Avis West, brother; Jack Oswalt, and brother Bill Oswalt of Longview.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Kelley West, of Lake Cherokee, daughter and son-in-law, Shelley West and JC Clawson of Liberty Hill, Tx, son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Stephanie West of Longview, and 7 grandchildren; Caitlin Muncy, Reese Williams, Landry Clawson, Preston West, Austin West, Jace Clawson, and Benton West.
