A Life Celebration for Sue Todd, 91, of Longview will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018, in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery.
Sue Todd was born in Olla, Louisiana on April 15, 1927, to parents Beulah and Roscoe Whitehead. She was one of four children. The family moved to Longview during the depression when Roscoe took a job as building engineer for the Hilton Hotel.
Sue graduated from Longview High School in 1944. She played saxophone in the band. After high school, she began working at McWilliams Furniture Store. During this time, she married Douglas Hargrove who passed away in 1954. Sue attended BMI Business School and later worked at L.E. Myers, an electrical construction company, as a bookkeeper for many years.
Sue and Floyd Todd were married in 1957. They moved to Charleston, SC in 1972 where they both worked for the U.S. Navy at the Naval Weapons Station. They retired in 1988 and moved back to Longview. They enjoyed many years of gardening and the outdoors during their retirement. Sue was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Longview.
Sue is survived by her husband, Floyd L Todd; daughter, Pamela Hargrove Hobbs; and granddaughter, Kasey Hobbs of Westminster, Colorado; sister, Martha Shelton of Longview; brother, Thomas Whitehead of Irving Texas; and loving nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William R. Whitehead, Jr.; her nephews, William Michael Whitehead; Charles Thomas Shelton; William Reed Shelton; and nieces, Martha Laster Harris and Carol Lynn Broussard.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by many.
