John Randall “Randy” Ginn, 61, of Longview passed away on Saturday, October 6, surrounded by family and friends.
Randy was born November 29, 1956 to Hershel and Pat Ginn, and he graduated from North Garland High School in 1975. He was employed at Luminate Mine for 40 years, where he was a long-time train operator.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents. Left to remember him are his wife, Tammy of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Clint Hulsey of Denton; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Everett Osborn of Denton; granddaughters, Kaylee, Sara and Lanie of Denton. He also leaves behind three step-sons, Michael Eppes of Longview; John Eppes of Springfield, MO; Jeremy Eppes of Longview; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Dee Ann Ginn of Lavon; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Jill Ginn of Glen Rose; several nieces, a nephew, and many cousins.
Randy was known as Sweetheart to the love of his life, Tammy, as Dad to his two beautiful daughters, as Bubba to his two little brothers, as PawPaw to his grandchildren, and as friend to countless others. He had an easy smile and a quiet presence about him, which demonstrated the gentleness of his heart.
Rooting on his OU Sooners was his greatest passion, and you would never catch him without one of his favorite OU hats and/or shirts on. After an injury prevented him from enjoying his favorite pastime of golf, he found a new joy at the beach with Tammy. He loved spending time in Galveston or in Florida with her, where you could see them walking hand in hand while he sang “The Sweetest Thing” in her ear. Randy was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, caring brother and a cherished friend. He will be greatly missed by those left behind, but they rest in knowing the separation is only temporary.
